About
Meet Dr. Katie
Dr. Katie loves being an orthodontist because it allows her to combine her passion for dentistry with her desire to make a positive impact on her patients’ lives. She finds joy in transforming smiles and boosting her patients’ confidence while creating lasting relationships along the way. One of Dr. Katie’s favorite parts of the job is getting to know her patients and treating them like family. With every patient she treats, Dr. Katie is inspired by the changes she sees—both in their smiles and their self-esteem.
The experiences that shaped Dr. Katie into the person and clinician that she is today started from growing up in a small town in Western New York, about 90 mins south of Buffalo. She attended the University of South Carolina where she graduated with Honors from the South Carolina Honors College and Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Finance from the Darla Moore School of Business. She then moved to New York City to attend dental school at Columbia University and then returned south to attend the world-renowned Department of Orthodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Katie has been in private practice in Greenville, SC since 2021 and has loved every minute of it!
Dr. Katie is driven to impact the field of orthodontics where she serves on the Advisory Board for Invisalign. She considers herself a lifelong learner and enjoys attending continuing education courses to better herself and she loves incorporating the latest and greatest technology into her treatment and around the office. As a busy mom herself, she wants your experience to be as worry free & convenient as possible.
Outside the office Dr. Katie and her husband Dr. James Pizzo enjoy spending time with their new baby girl, Ellie, and their dog, Farley. They love camping, hiking, fishing, as well as a good tennis match. Dr. Katie cannot wait to meet you and looks forward to welcoming you into our home of Katie PIzzo Orthodontics.
Meet Our Therapy Dog
Meet Katie Pizzo Orthodontics’ very own therapy dog, Farley. This charming pup is trained to provide comfort and reduce anxiety during orthodontic visits. With a calm demeanor and friendly presence, our therapy dog helps patients of all ages feel relaxed and at ease. Whether it’s a routine check-up or you just wanted to stop in to say hello, warm cuddles, and a cheerful personality make every experience pleasant and inviting.
Farley has been certified since 2019 and has had extensive training to earn her certification. To be a therapy dog, you must be at least 1 year old, and have passed a series of tests including the AKC Canine Good Citizen, as well as specific therapy dog training. We are a certified team through Canines For Service, a NC based group, and Farley volunteered at VA hospitals in Durham as well as at the UNC Department of Orthodontics where she also participated in a published research study.
